The transition from conventional powertrain concepts (combustion engines) to alternative solutions (e.g. e-machines, hybrids) leads to a new and additional need for testing and optimization. In addition, suitable operating strategies must be identified that meet the expectations of end customers while taking into account various deployment scenarios (e.g., range prediction)
A digital twin of the customer's hybrid powertrain was developed and integrated into the virtual prototype of the complete vehicle. New components such as the batteries and the e-machine were taken into account, and the various operating modes were mapped. The digital twin could be used to efficiently test and evaluate different customer deployment scenarios and to optimize the operating strategy.
